Level 7, Unit 1, Reading1 , Exercise 2

Write a letter to an imaginary employer explaining why you want to enter their apprentice program. Include vocabulary and expressions from this reading where appropriate.

Dear Manager,

I am writing this letter to explain why I am interested in the apprenticeship program you advertised on your company website.
As mentioned on the company website the program is to enter carpenter training skills. For me I am so interested in having training on carpenter as I love to work using my hands specially in this kind of work, you need to use your imagination and creativity to come with new models of bed rooms, tables, chairs, and home library.
I have completed already my studies and as I read about work skills in Canada, it is very much required to work on trades and be included in apprenticeship program since Canada is lacking a huge number of hand worker skills.
I am very much open to learn and can adapt very fast with flexible schedule. I have good personal skills such as positive attitude, time management, working within a team or independently, and well-disciplined with the willingness to learn and communicate with people.

Thank you
Roula

Complaint Letter From a Customer

Required :

Read a complaint letter from a customer or client to determine appropriate action. Based on this letter, leave a note for your boss listing what the complaint is about and what should be done, if anything, about it. Post your note to your blog.

Answer:

Dear Manager,

I am writing this note based on the complaint received by one of our customers related to the restaurant service, food quality and behavior of the restaurant staff.

1- Customer mentioned that the food came late and cold. A proper investigation should be done on that day to determine the reason the food arrived late and cold to the customer and special procedure should be done based on the outcome of the investigation which can be staff mistake, an error in kitchen and whether the reason was genuine or not.
2- Customer mentioned as well that one of the staff was rude with him when asked to return the food and reheat. for that soft skills and customer service training should be conducted to all staff on how to deal with customers.
3- as a compensation to the customer of what he faced in the restaurant, I suggest to invite him again by writing an apology letter and having him on dinner free of charge in order for him to change his opinion of the restaurant and explain to him what are the actions taken to correct the mistake happened earlier. hopefully by doing that, he will change his opinion about the restaurant and even recommend his friends and family to visit as well.
